Identity Malta has announced the duration process of issuing a single-work permit, which used to take four to five months, has been slashed to just under four weeks.
Identity Malta accepts applications for single-work permits, granting Third-Country Nationals the authorization to reside and take up employment in Malta.
This was stated by Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms, Citizenship and Simplification Julia Farrugia Portelli when she addressed a seminar organized by the Malta Employers’ Association and FORUM during which she spoke about the shortage in labour supply.
The slashing in the time for a single-work permit to be issued is a notable achievement which can only be accredited to the valid contribution made by the agency’s employees and from the management’s wise decision to take on board a number of recommendations from a series of consultation meetings.
Julia Farrugia Portelli also said that Identity Malta has pledged to further reduce this processing time to two weeks.
On 21 December 2007 Malta joined the Schengen system at the end of a gradual process of adjusting to the common visa regime provided by the Convention Implementing the Schengen Agreement.
