The Grenada Citizenship-by-Investment programme was launched in August 2013 as a means to develop Grenada’s economy to be more prosperous and independent.
Grenada’s citizenship by investment program is rated as the ‘Gold’ standard of CBI programs in the Caribbean region for transparency, in an IMF article. It says
The Government also set up a legal framework to prudently manage the inflows from the citizenship-by-investment program which, by the way, is the gold standard in the region for transparency.
Grenada is an island (aka spice island) nation with an exotic topography, breathtaking beaches and year-round temperate climate. Grenada passport holders currently travel to 127 countries around the world visa-free, including the UK and Europe’s Schengen area, Brazil. Grenada is also a member of commonwealth of nations. Grenada is also the only country running CBI program have visa free travel to China. Grenada currently does not have visa waiver with Canada.
Grenada’s has E-2 treaty with United States, is a cheaper EB-5 alternative, qualifies Grenadian citizens to receive E-2 non immigrant visa to visit US.
In a recently released 2018 Passport index, Grenadian passport is ranked #36 powerful passport in the world. Grenada recently signed visa waiver with Russia and United Arab Emirates.
According to Grenada’s Citizenship by Unit, there are primarily two paths to investment citizenship
- NTF National transformation fund contribution ($150,000)
- Real estate investment ($350,000)
Only buying a property in approved real estate properties qualify for Grenada citizenship. There are some excellent real estate developments going on such as Kawana Bay, La Pointe at Petite Calivigny, or Levera resort.
Grenadian passports issued under CBI program are valid for 5 years, which then validity can be extended later. The time frame for citizenship can be anywhere from two to five months. Grenada allows individuals to hold dual citizenship, and citizenship may be extended to family members, such as a spouse, dependent children, and dependent parents.
Grenada — The Caribbean’s hidden gem – Grenada’s Citizenship-by-Investment programme has secured the number one spot in terms of Residence Requirements, Investment Requirements and Physical Visit Requirements in the Global Residence and Citizenship Programmes 2017–2018 report.
Ronald Klasko Esq in a fact finding study reported, Grenada since it is the only country in the world, at present, that has both a citizenship by investment program and a bilateral investment treaty with the U.S. that allows citizens of Grenada to apply for E-2 treaty investor visas to the U.S. Grenada is considered to have one of the better CBI programs based on its vetting and due diligence, according to the study.
In 2017, about 705 persons received Grenadian citizenship by investment.
