St Kitts gears up to host major Citizenship by Investment summit in May

In May, St. Kitts and Nevis will welcome hundreds of regional and international key players in the economic citizenship industry for high-level discussions on issues affecting the sector, as well as exploring opportunities for further growth of citizenship by investment programmes, when the twin island Federation plays host to the Caribbean Investment Summit 2018.

The 2018 summit, which will be held from May 16-19 at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, will bring together the five Citizenship by Investment (CBI) jurisdictions in the Caribbean, namely, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, St. Lucia, Grenada and host St. Kitts and Nevis. Other key stakeholders in various fields such as banking, due diligence, risk management and cyber security, cryptocurrency and real estate will also be in attendance.

The landmark summit is expected to cover topics including embracing new technology for better CIPs; responsible conduct for service providers; key approaches to sustainable development and collaboration for a common cause.

Addressing the nation during his press conference today, Wednesday, April 25, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, said the theme chosen for this year’s event, “Unity in the Age of Division, Emerging Trends of CIPs in an Uncertain World,” is one that reflects the changes in the industry.

“Never has there been a better time to unite. As CIPs proliferate across the globe, we urge the world to remember where it all began – right here in St. Kitts and Nevis in 1984 and we ask them to recall that with age comes wisdom. As the market continues to grow amid political and economic tensions, the industry must take a holistic approach to ensure its longevity, and in doing so, must provide the appropriate fora to engage and stimulate the growing numbers of industry participants,” Prime Minister Harris stated.

Also expected to attend next month’s summit are government officials, diplomatic missions, international marketing agents, developers and service providers, and prospective investors.

St. Kitts and Nevis maintains the longest-running and one of the most trusted Citizenship by Investment Programmes in the world for which it has been recognized internationally. In January 2018, St. Kitts and Nevis ranked number one in the OECS by a quality of passport index survey conducted by Henley & Partners. The Federation was also recognized for offering the World’s Most Innovative Investment Immigration Programme at the 2017 Russian Global Citizen Awards Ceremony.

Long regarded internationally as the platinum brand of the economic citizenship industry, the country’s CBI programme continues to employ the most vigorous due diligence procedures including multiple tiers of vetting by reputable agencies.
