The UK Home office published latest immigration statistics for Q1 2018. According to latest figures, 96 Tier1 investor visas for Q1 2018 alone with each main applicant investing 2 million pounds.
These figures indicate, Chinese lead the table, while Russians and Americans show great interest in UK high value investor visas. In 2017 according to the figures, 116 chinese, 48 Russians, 18 Americans received UK high value investor visas. Since the start of program in Q3 2008, over 800 Russians and 1250 chinese obtained UK investor visas.
Bloomberg reported The UK Government to scrutinise 700 Russians who obtained tier1 investor visas as a part of new crackdown. Chelsea owner Roman Abramowich whose estimated wealth is $11 billion, faced significant UK visa delays recently. He obtained israeli citizenship.
The demand for UK tier1 investor visas have fallen in 2018. Only 96 visas were granted in 2018 compared to 243 visas in Q4 2017 which is a 60% drop. Applications from India have also dropped to just 1 per quarter.
