On July 17th, Grenada launched the new e-passport and epassport issuing control system becoming only the sixth caribbean country to introduce the new scheme.
ePassports (or Biometric passports ) come with chip that stores biometric and facial recognition data improving the national security of Grenada, protected by PKI.

Grenada recorded a significant milestone on July 17th, 2018 with the launch of the new ePassport and ePassport Issuing and Control System (ePICS). The new ePassport is similar to a regular passport but it contains a chip which stores biometric data. Grenada is the sixth Caribbean country to introduce the ePassport.
I look forward to more Caribbean countries adopting the ePassport so that together, countries can work to secure borders while facilitating ease of travel for nationals and visitors alike.
An estimated $3.5m has been invested in the project and new citizens under CBI program will also be given new ePassport.
Already Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, St. Kitts/Nevis and St. Vincent and the Grenadines are the other five countries using ePassport.
