Dominica and St Kitts secure top rankings for Visa openness in UNWTO report

The UN World Tourism Organization has published Visa openness report for 2018.  The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations.

UNWTO visa openness report measures the mobility of citizens based on their ability to travel seamlessly to other countries.

Cook Island is revealed as the most welcoming country in the world in terms of visa facilitation, followed by Micronesia and Niue. Qatar’s visa openness ranking has leapt to 8th in the world from 177th back in 2014 because of comprehensive travel measures.

Dominica ranks 4th while St Kitts ranks 7th and Vanuatu in 11th place in the world welcoming with visa openness.

World visa openness by region 2018

 

Visa policies are among the most important governmental formalities influencing international tourism. The development of policies and procedures for visas, as well as for other important travel documents such as passports, is closely linked to the development of tourism.

According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) long-term forecast Tourism Towards 2030 , international tourist arrivals are expected to continue to grow at the sustained pace of 3.3% a year on average, reaching 1.8 billion by 2030.
