Malta attracts the best talent through IIP

The Prime Minister of Malta, Dr. Joseph Muscat addressed a seminar organized by Henley and Partners in New York. He spoke about the success of the Citizenship by Investment programme which he introduced four years ago.

 

PM Joseph Muscat addressed a seminar saying the success of the  Individual Investor Program in Malta,  has attracted influential people in the blockchain sector.

 

The PM said that according to the Henley & Partners passport index for this year, the Maltese passport is the seventh strongest passport in the world and the second strongest among the main Citizenship by Investment programmes. He said that this was due to the unique way in which information and due diligence was being carried out.

 

Dr Muscat said that through the IIP, Malta was looking at quality and was attracting the best talent to our country, such as people who are in the blockchain sector who are investing in Malta.

 

To date, over 1200 families have acquired citizenship through IIP.  The application process to acquire Maltese Citizenship is very stringent takes around 12 months to complete. It starts with the submission of an e-Residence Application and ends with the issuance of a certification of naturalization.

 

According to the Government, To date, IIP applicants have made around 600 donations to 99 entities, amounting to €3.6 million in value helping noble causes.

 

Malta’s due diligence process is the best in the world among the citizenship by investment programs.  Nearly one in four investment applications are denied citizenship. Malta also developed the world’s first CBI risk matrix

 

Moody’s Investors Service affirmed Malta’s A3 credit rating with a positive outlook.  Malta’s recent track record revealed a strong economic growth, an elevated per-capita income and very high scores in terms of global competitiveness.

 

Malta is one of the world’s smallest and most densely populated countries, at over 316 km2 (122 sq mi) with a population of about 475,000.
