Vanuatu citizenship revenues reach VT 10 billion for 2018

Vanuatu remains the most popular citizenship by investment scheme in the Pacific. Foreigners can contribute $150,000 to the Vanuatu DSP fund and can acquire citizenship for families.  This requires only donation to government and no real estate option is attached to citizenship scheme.

According to ministry of finance, the combined  CIP revenues from Vanuatu Development Support Program (VDSP) and Vanuatu Contribution Program (VCP), together collected VT 9,996.2 million  in total in 2018.  This is equivalent USD 89 million collected just in 2018.

Vanuatu citizenship scheme was launched in 2015 and is currently running for over three years.

This is 371.5 per cent more than the budget target of VT 2,120.0 million and is 112.4 per cent more than collections from VERP, VDSP and VCP2 during 2017 (VT 4,705.4 million).

VDSP and VCP revenue collections in October, November and December vastly exceeded those in other months, due to the cyclical nature of the contracts with the agents responsible for promoting the program.

Government Revenue collected in December 2018 is higher than the budget target figure predicted through cash flow analysis of previous fiscal years . This is because of higher collection of VAT revenue as well as Vanuatu Development Support Program (VDSP) and Vanuatu Contribution Program (VCP) revenue in December 2018 compared to Vanuatu Economic Rehabilitation Program (VERP), VDSP and VCP revenue collection in December 2017.

The total Government receipts for the whole of 2018 up until the end of December were VT 30,058.2 million. The CIP revenues represent one-third (30%) of the entire government receipts.
