The much anticipated Montenegro citizenship investment program will be delayed further by another year.
Montenegro launched its special citizenship by admission program on Jan 1, 2019 but accepting applications will only open by end of 2019. This was announced with Head of Secretariat of Development projects.
We expect to have first applications for the Montenegrin Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP) by the end of this year, while the Program itself will be fully in place in 2020, head of the Secretariat for Development Projects, Dejan Medojević, told in an interview with Dnevne Novine daily.
This is not about the usual sale of passports but rather an important development project for Montenegro,” said Mr Medojević.
Mr Medojević made it clear that citizenship will not be given for those working with dirty money nor wanted persons of interests to the security agency.
The final decisions are to be taken by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and National Security Agency.
Montenegro government has announced selection of 3 marketing agents but announcement of selection of due diligence providers will be by mid april.
Montenegro citizenship by investment is limited to 2000 applications and will close by Dec 2021 according to the decision passed by government.
