US citizenship test fail rate is 9%

A citizenship test is an examination, written or oral, required to acquire citizenship through naturalisation in a country.

 

US administers a naturalization test for those who naturalize for citizenship.  The test consists of two parts: english language and civics. The test was first implemented on October 1, 2009

 

The pass rate at national level is 91%. This also means nine out of hundred test takers fail in citizenship test according to the latest data released by USCIS (fail rate is 9%)

 

Applicants must must demonstrate an ability to read, write, and speak words in ordinary usage in the English language, and have a knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government (civics)

 

A total of two chances will be given to pass in the test. Those who fail first time will be given one more chance.

 

Exceptions to English and Civics Requirements for Naturalization
Exceptions [INA 312(b)] Educational Requirements
English:

Read, write, speak, and understand

Civics:

Knowledge of U.S. history and government

Age 50 or older and resided in U.S. as an LPR for at least 20 years at time of filing Exempt Still required. Applicants may take civics test in their language of choice using an interpreter.
Age 55 or older and resided in U.S. as an LPR for at least 15 years at time of filing Exempt
Age 65 or older and resided in U.S. as an LPR for at least 20 years at time of filing Exempt Still required but officers administer specially designated test forms. Applicants may take the civics test in their language of choice using an interpreter.
Medical Disability Exception (Form N-648) May be exempt from English, civics, or both

 

English test

 

Applicants will be tested on reading, speaking and writing on english language.

 

Civic test

 

Applicants must answer 6 out of 10 questions to pass in the civic test.

▪ American Indians
▪ Native Americans

 

3. Before he was President, Eisenhower was a general. What war was he in?

▪ World War II

 

4. Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

▪ because there were 13 original colonies
▪ because the stripes represent the original colonies

 

5. When do we celebrate Independence Day?*

▪ July 4
