Antigua has announced the 4th Campus of University of West Indies (UWI) will be officially opened in September 2019. The campus physically located in the community known as “Five Islands”, this newest campus of The UWI will be officially known as the “Five Islands Campus”.
The campus expected significant education benefits to locals putting Antigua squarely on the map, bringing much needed skills, talent and intellectual knowledge to Antigua propelling the country to education destination. Several former prime ministers and nobel prize winners were previous students of UWI campuses.
The campus will additionally benefit The OECS region which constitutes a significant part of the CARICOM family with a population of approximately 600,000 citizens, of which 102,000 reside in Antigua and Barbuda.
The official announcement from Vice-Chancellor of the University of the West Indies, was made by Sir Hilary Beckles, that Antigua and Barbuda will receive the 4th landed campus of the University of the West Indies.
The University of the West Indies (UWI) Chancellor, Mr. Robert Bermudez has formally approved the establishment of a campus of The University of the West Indies in Antigua and Barbuda, within the wider context of the country’s membership of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS)

The Five Islands Campus will begin by admitting its first 800 students in September, 2019. The majority of these 800 students are already registered in levels 1 and 2 of The University of the West Indies programmes are currently being delivered in Antigua under a franchise agreement at the Antigua State College, and other Tertiary Institutions. These students, will transition to the Five Islands Campus.
The new campus will make Antigua and Barbuda more globally competitive bringing education benefits to antiguans.
UWI CIP Fund
The Fifth campus will also be partly funded by Antigua’s citizenship by investment (CBI) program. Last year, The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has introduced a New CIP fund option for $150,000 to fund University of West Indies campus.
University of West Indies Fund (UWI fund) option is already open for applications effective from Oct 12, 2018.
Foreigners can qualify for Antigua citizenship by making $150,000 one time contribution to the UWI fund.
CBI citizens can also benefit from the university campus for education of children. One member of the family will be entitled to scholarship for 1 year (tuition only) at the University of the West Indies campus.
The Prime minister also announced last year, CBI Agents promoting this UWI fund option will be given generous $30,000 commissions per file.
