Less than 1% of Greek residence permits issued for Golden visa

Greece is experiencing economic boom at an unprecedented scale, since the launch of golden visa scheme in 2014.  As of mid 2019, the scheme as amassed an estimated €1.25 billion euros invested in the property sector.

According to the latest data received from Hellenic Migration office of Greece, a the end of June 2019, a total of 554,907 residence permits issued in Greece, of which 5,029 residence permits were issued to property investors. Yet, these golden permits comprise of  less than 1% (0.9%) of the total residence permits issued in Greece.

More than 126,000 residence permits were issued for family members among all the half a million residence permits issued.

 

Very interestingly there are increasing number of americans and canadians investing in Greek properties. Further middle east investors from Egypt, Lebanon also take part in investments

  • Turkey – 435
  • Iran – 109
  • United States – 33
  • Canada – 22
  • India – 14

 

A number of investors from the Caribbean interestingly also invested in Greek golden visa scheme.

  • Grenada – 2
  • St Kitts and Nevis – 3

 

Athens, Piraeus and Pallini remained the top property investment destinations in Greece for golden visas
