Moldova has approved citizenship for3 more investors, making a total of five investors acquiring passport under the citizenship for investment scheme. So far Moldova has received €545,000 (100 million lei) from citizenship investments, the Moldovan local media reported.
The decree was signed by President, Igor Dodon, on granting the citizenship of Moldova to some foreigners has been published on Friday, 02 August, in the Official Journal (MO). It is the second decree signed by the head of state on granting the citizenship through investments.
So far a total of 5 investors, have been approved under the CBI scheme which was launched in 2018. The Government has currently suspended the scheme with the parliament issuing four month moratorium last week.
So far thirty four files have been received in exchange for investments and most of the files under review.
Currently, the Moldova government do not accept any applications for the citizenship by investment program (CBI).
It is expected, all the 34 cases will be examined and be approved of citizenship within the next 4-6 months.
Henley and Partners, which designed and implemented the CBI scheme, said in a statement to Moldova news agency , that company “looks forward” to working in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Moldova “to fully re-evaluate and relaunch the program for obtaining citizenship through investments”.
The company has already identified projects that generate over €400m euros and creating over 10,000 jobs to the Republic of Moldova.
