St Kitts to expand its Visa Waiver Program

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis (SKN) is committed to establishing diplomatic relations and expanding visa waiver program with countries, to enlarge its worldwide diplomatic footprint and play a greater role in international affairs.

 

A Senior Foreign Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Michael Penny, said that MOFA is “working feverishly to add other countries to the waiver process. Visa waivers make it easier for passport holders of St. Kitts and Nevis to move around freely and who doesn’t want to move freely,” Mr. Penny said.

 

St. Kitts and Nevis has visa waiver agreements with more than 150 countries around the world that allow citizens of the respective countries to enjoy hassle-free travel to signatory territories. Visa waivers mean that passport holders do not need a visa to go to a country.

 

Some of the countries that SKN have signed visa waiver agreements include: Ghana, Indonesia, Republic of Belarus, Russian Federation, Republic of India, Georgia, and San Marino. Recently  St. Kitts and Nevis signs 153rd visa waiver agreement with Georgia and became the latest country to recognize Palestine

 

Visa waivers are play an important role in promoting tourism and facilitating business. During the period, a passport holder with a visa can stay in another country varies according to the agreement.

 

As of 02 July 2019, Saint Kitts and Nevis citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 152 countries and territories. SKN also has one of the most valuable and powerful passports in the Caribbean.

 

St Kitts also has an active citizenship by investment (CBI) scheme bringing much needed revenue for the government.
