As of May 21, 2020 Cyprus announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pio.gov.cy\/coronavirus\/en\/pdf\/measuresx.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">gradual easing<\/a> of lockdown measures<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Cyprus investment citizenship scheme also fuels demand for luxury property sales above \u20ac2 million from foreign property buyers. \u00a0With Cyprus travel and tourism hit by 60%, the investment scheme provides an opportunity to raise investment to exit the crisis and save real estate market from meltdown.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The European commission <a href=\"https:\/\/citizenshipbyinvestment.news\/index.php\/2020\/05\/17\/eu-economy-will-experience-a-recession-of-historic-proportions\/\">economic outlook report<\/a>\u00a0said EU economy would enter into deep recessive due to pandemic and projected Cyprus economy would contract by -7.4%, it grew by 3.2% in 2019<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/citizenshipbyinvestment.news\/index.php\/2019\/02\/15\/cyprus-removes-government-bonds-and-requires-schengen-visa-for-citizenship-scheme\/\">May 2019<\/a>, Cyprus announced several steps with tightening of regulations and <a href=\"https:\/\/citizenshipbyinvestment.news\/index.php\/2019\/05\/21\/insights-into-due-diligence-of-cyprus-investment-scheme\/\">due diligence<\/a> rules for the investor citizenship scheme, such as \u00a0requirement of <a href=\"https:\/\/citizenshipbyinvestment.news\/index.php\/2020\/05\/14\/how-schengen-visa-vetting-works\/\">schengen visas<\/a> and increasing the holding period of investments.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Last month <a href=\"https:\/\/www.financialmirror.com\/2020\/04\/26\/covid19-passport-scheme-provides-a-crisis-exit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Financial mirror<\/a>, reported \u00a0&#8220;To date, we have collected from such investors some \u20ac6.5 bln and we now want to raise another \u20ac1 bln, based on some 100 pending applications and 700 others waiting in the queue.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cyprus recently announced speedingup the examination of pending citizenship applications on urgent basis to grapple with the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Cyprus real estate sales to foreigners has fallen off a cliff, to low levels after being hit by coronavirus pandemic.
