These measures were taken to prevent the misuse of public funds and to strengthen safeguards against tax abuse throughout the EU<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Restrictions apply to companies that have been convicted of serious financial crimes, including, among others, financial fraud, corruption, non-payment of tax and social security obligations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Currently there are 12 countries including territories <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/taxation_customs\/news\/council-revises-its-eu-list-non-cooperative-jurisdictions-4_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">blacklisted<\/a> by European Commission<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>American Samoa,<\/li>\n<li>Fiji,<\/li>\n<li>Guam,<\/li>\n<li>Oman,<\/li>\n<li>Samoa,<\/li>\n<li>Trinidad and Tobago,<\/li>\n<li>US Virgin Islands,<\/li>\n<li>Vanuatu,<\/li>\n<li>Cayman Islands,<\/li>\n<li>Palau,<\/li>\n<li>Seychelles,<\/li>\n<li>Panama<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Member States should also agree to reasonable requirements for companies to prove that there is no link with a jurisdiction on the EU list of non-cooperative tax jurisdictions.\u00a0 They must also inform EC periodically on the measures taken on the subject.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It is up to Member States to decide if they wish to grant financial support and to design measures in line with EU rules, including State aid rules, and their policy objectives.
